Important race information - updated 9/10/091...
1. Just a note of correction regarding prize awards... our brochure talks about age group awards... we will only be giving prizes to the top three male and female finishers in each race. Wished we could do more... and we certainly will as the race grows!
2. Don't forget about the kid's race at 10:00 AM.... no need to register, just come and bring two canned goods as the entry fee per runner.
3. Plan to stay for awards ceremonies: 5K and half marathon awards at 9:00 AM Full marathon awards at 11:00 AMHope your training runs are going well!
4. Registration deadline is 9/28/09... walk up registrations will be accepted after that date. But race day registrations will not receive a timing chip... not enough time to get data entered in timing contractor spreadsheet. You will receive a bib number, though.

Breaking news!.... this year the timing chip will be on the bib - so you will get a chip even if you register on race day! But don't put it off.... you don't want to be late to the start line because you're stuck in a registration line :)

1. I think that it stinks that after paying so much for the race entry fee, that you are too cheap to give age group awards. i am far too slow to get one, but i have friends that could easily win one.
ReplyDelete2. It also stinks that you have the awards before the Marathon is over, it is actually rude to those of use that are slower and wanted to participate.
Regarding age group awards.... we hope to put that feature back in next year's race. We lost so much money last year that we had to make some painful selective cuts. We thought it would be better to make some cuts and still have the event versus not have the event.
ReplyDeleteAnd regarding the timing of the awards ceremonies.... it's a real catch 22 situation. Last year we waited until most of the athletes finished only to find that the majority of the winners had already left! We ended up mailing most of the awards. Wish there was a good solution to this one.
